Cozomo de’ Medici: A Digital Art Patron’s Journey and Vision

In the rapidly evolving realm of crypto art, one pseudonymous figure stands out: Cozomo de’ Medici. Drawing inspiration from the illustrious Florentine banker of the Renaissance era, Cozomo de’ Medici has become a prominent digital art collector and angel investor. Since making a grand entrance onto the crypto art scene in 2021, Cozomo de’ Medici has orchestrated a collection that fuses traditional art values with the cutting-edge potential of blockchain technology.

A Notable Entry: CryptoPunk Zombies and Medici’s Collection:
Cozomo de’ Medici’s debut saw a calculated move, acquiring two CryptoPunk Zombies with a historic 1550 ETH investment. This acquisition, valued at approximately $2.63 million at the time, served as the cornerstone of a diverse collection that includes works by renowned artists such as Sam Spratt, DeeKay Motion, and XCOPY. Through his “Medici Minutes,” a digital chronicle shared with over 278K Twitter followers, Cozomo offers a window into his collecting journey and insights, captivating the digital art community.

The Enigma of Identity and Artistic Endeavors:
The air of mystery surrounding Cozomo de’ Medici’s identity has been a subject of intrigue and speculation. The collector’s witty engagement with the guessing game, fueled by playful trolling, has added to his enigmatic persona. Yet, amidst the speculation, one truth prevails—Cozomo’s commitment to the artists and the art itself is paramount. This commitment transcended individual identity when Cozomo made headlines by gifting 22 blockchain artworks to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. This remarkable donation marked a groundbreaking step towards institutional recognition of digital art’s significance.

An Odyssey Through Digital Art:
Cozomo de’ Medici’s journey through the digital art landscape reflects a natural progression. His trajectory echoed a collector’s evolution, from acquiring PFPs (Profile Picture Projects) like CryptoPunks to exploring the dynamic world of generative art on platforms like Art Blocks. The culmination of this exploration often leads to the acquisition of unique, one-of-a-kind artworks.

Championing Artists and Ushering Diversity:
Cozomo de’ Medici’s patronage extends beyond collecting; it becomes a means to uplift emerging artists and challenge traditional norms. Through platforms like Deca and On Cyber, he has harnessed the power of online galleries to showcase his collection. Simultaneously, Cozomo is determined to bring digital art into physical spaces, emphasizing the importance of striking displays to onboard new collectors and foster a sense of ownership.

A Vision for the Future: AI, Blockchain, and Beautiful Displays:
Cozomo envisions a future where AI-powered creations disrupt the art landscape. Artists like Claire Silver and Van Arman, who blend machine learning with human creativity, exemplify the potential of this evolving frontier. Cozomo’s predictions point to the traditional art world embracing blockchain technology for provenance data and the emergence of platforms enabling physical canvas artists to record their art’s history on the blockchain. In tandem, the pursuit of affordable yet stunning in-home displays is seen as a driving force behind the next wave of digital art collection.

Discovering New Artists: A Personal Quest:
For Cozomo, the quest to discover new artists involves diverse avenues. Interaction with artists through social media interactions, particularly Twitter, has proven fruitful. Missed Direct Messages and the recommendations of fellow artists have also led him to burgeoning talents. Cozomo’s approach is rooted in collaboration and the belief that recognizing talent fosters growth within the art community.

A Lasting Legacy of Anonymity and Art:
In an era marked by digital connectivity, Cozomo de’ Medici’s decision to remain anonymous is a strategic measure to

safeguard his endeavors from cyber threats. Embracing anonymity, he remains steadfast in his commitment to supporting artists and amplifying their work. To him, the true narrative lies in the art itself, a narrative that transcends individual identity.

Cozomo de’ Medici’s journey is one of dedication, discovery, and collaboration. As he continues to bridge the gap between traditional and digital art, his legacy is not only in the pieces he collects but also in the artists he champions and the vibrant future he envisions for the realm of digital art.

Last week, we witnessed a spotlight in the history of digital art.

That was the moment that all the things started; the Medici minutes got flagged by google, Deekay tweet which was the original source for the mint link deleted by the Twitter (X), Instagram deleted stories and posts with the artwork, Australia banned the mint page and all the other things but, 24 h later, minting closed with 7,150 minted editions in total with more than +60% unique owners.
The whole event made +$170M bridged funds into the Base network while hitting 130,000 users!!

DecaVerse:

Deca this week lunched one of their most significant updates on the platform; uploads.
Now artists can upload their non-NFT images mostly to showcase the process of creation of their piece to everyone.
Also we are sure that we are going to witness a big change in the structure and the quality of the galleries after some time with this new feature.
Deca tried to hide their next step in their announcement somehow but the most predictable change in the future can be the minting feature.
